A family story.
A Florida trade.
The Stover family marine construction story connects Florida cattle country, Punta Gorda’s canals, and the waterfront work we do today.
Three generations on Florida’s waterfronts
Stover family
marine construction.
The Stover family story follows a path from Florida cattle country to Punta Gorda’s canals, and into the waterfront work we do today.
The beginnings
The original
Saltwater Cowboy.
Gary Stover brought a cattle rancher’s background to a new kind of work along Florida’s waterways.
He founded G. Stover Marine and became known as the original Saltwater Cowboy. Marine construction became the next chapter of his life, and the foundation of a family trade.

Chapter 02 / Punta Gorda
A connection
to the canals.
Gary’s work helped shape the Punta Gorda Isles canal system. That history connects the Stover name to the waterways that are part of everyday life here.
The canals, waterfront homes, and ways people use the water are still at the heart of the family’s story.

Today, Florida Marine Specialists carries the family trade forward.
Our work includes seawalls, docks, boat lifts, erosion control, bridges and bulkheads. Each project brings a different shoreline, a different property, and a different reason for getting out on the water.
The Stover family marine construction story continues through the work in front of us. Explore today’s waterfront services and the project photographs that show the crew at work. Bring your own waterfront questions to our team.
